NEW VISION. NEW MISSION. NEW PROGRAMS.
Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
Sometimes life feels like we're in a desert. There is pain, hurt, and tears, and we struggle to see a way forward, to see hope in our circumstances. But that's when God comes in and says, "Behold, I am doing a new thing!" God can make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He can bring hope to the hopeless and light to the darkness. He alone can heal hurting hearts and struggling families.
Over the last twelve months, God has moved Project 1.27 in a NEW direction. As an organization, we still desperately want to see Christian foster and adoptive families answering the call of James 1.27. We want families to be well-trained, trauma-informed, and supported so they can meet the needs of kids who've experienced heartbreak, abuse, and neglect. But we started asking, "What if we could reduce the number of children who enter into care? What if we could prevent a child from experiencing the trauma and heartbreak that comes from being removed from their biological families?" Through this questioning, FamiliesCare was born. FamiliesCare is a new program that works to empower families at-risk of child removal to keep kids safe, stay together, and thrive. We were no longer only wanting "A Family Waiting for Every Child" but "Every child in a nurturing, well-supported family." God opened another door in the last couple of months to bring another new program to Project 1.27. The Neighbor Program connects foster families in-crisis with "Neighbors" who can support them by bringing a meal on hard days. Through this growth, the mission and vision of Project 1.27 has changed. God created families for children to thrive, and all families- biological, foster, kinship, and adoptive- need help and support. We all have a role to live out James 1.27. We might be called to foster or adopt. Maybe we can bring a meal or support a struggling family. As a church, we might be able to form a FamiliesCare group to support at-risk families in our community. Or perhaps we can financially give to families who need help. No matter the role, the vision is the same: Kids need families. Families need YOU. |
